![]() ![]() In Smash, the bottoms of Steve's and Zombie's heads are oriented the way they were originally, with the texture not being flipped, while Alex, whose skin was designed for the bottom to be flipped, also has her skin as originally intended. In Minecraft, since the Beta 1.9 Prerelease the bottom textures of all skins were flipped vertically, and though the bottoms of skins such as Steve's and the Zombie's heads had details that were affected by this, they were never adjusted to appear how they were originally intended.Game & Watch, Steve is the second playable character to look almost identical to their original appearance, the first third-party character to do so, and the first to come from a conventional video game rather than an LCD game. The first were Banjo & Kazooie, created by the UK-based developer Rare, which are coincidentally also owned by Microsoft. This makes them the second DLC fighter that was created outside of Japan, as well as the second third-party character created outside Japan. Steve was created by the Swedish video game company Mojang Studios. One of Steve's victory poses has them build a house similar to ones found in Villages, stand outside of it, then close the door.Steve's character design is taken from their texture used in early Alpha builds of Minecraft, specifically prior to version "0.24_ SURVIVAL_TEST," rather than their current, beard-less design.A cinematic plays where the affected fighter is launched into a dark building filled with TNT, where they are attacked by Creepers and Zombies, producing multiple explosions. His final smash begins with him placing a giant piston in front of him, which extends to catch enemies in the attack. His up special is an Elytra, which he uses to glide. His down smash causes him to place lava out of a lava bucket in front of him, then behind. His up aerial is a quick swing above his head with a weapon. His forward aerial is a downwards swing with a weapon. He is shown using swords and various other weapons for tilt attacks, including his forward smash. As of now, which directional input each showcased attack belongs to is speculative, but the following examples are clearly shown off in the presentation: Steve has been shown using several tools from Minecraft in combat, and can seemingly use multiple weapons for the same attack. He also has the ability to produce minecarts, rails, powered rails, and redstone torches as his side special. Additionally, Steve can place redstone and a wooden pressure plate to detonate TNT.Crafting Tables can be spawned behind the playing field, which can linger after use, and Anvils are used as his down air and down throw when still having iron. Depending on the stage, the dirt can appear as white wool, sand (which does not fall), or ice. The only blocks he can place are dirt, oak planks, stone, iron blocks, TNT (as down special), and magma blocks (as up smash). Steve can place blocks, which crack and break automatically overtime after placing them.Weapons can be made of wood, stone, iron, gold and diamond. Available weapons and equipment include swords (jab, forward tilt/mobile jab, neutral air, short hop forward and back airs, and forward smash), fishing rods (grabs and back throw), axes (up tilt, up air, mining wood), pickaxes (dash attack, forward and back air, and mining iron and stone), shovel (mining dirt), lava buckets (down smash), and flint & steel (down tilt). ![]()
